A Personal Philosophy of Clinical Supervision
The primary purpose of supervision is to enhance the therapeutic process.
To promote the growth of therapeutic competence.
When the welfare of the client is at risk this must be dealt with before any other task or function.
An enabling and containing process, in preference to an educational or therapeutic process.
Supervision is supervisee-centred, taking place in an environment of respect, warmth and genuineness, combined with empathetic understanding.
Good therapists do not necessarily make good supervisors, it takes practice of the eclectic "Cyclical Model of Supervision" in order to function effectively.
Supervisors need supervision too.
Invoices for supervision are payable immediately, at the time of supervision, no credit arrangements are possible.
